this is my first post on this website, which feels appropriate considering the website itself is also a first for me! i've wanted to make a personal site for a while, but i kept putting it off because actually learning how to make one seemed like it would be a pain in the ass. thankfully it wasn’t too bad, though. with the help of some tutorials i was able to pick up the basics in pretty much an evening. having prior experience in python definitely also helped

the layout itself comes from PetraPixel's Layout Generator, which saved me from having to figure out the entire structure from scratch. it gave me a pretty good foundation to work from, and i've mostly been modifying it from there. i'm still learning how some of the base code works, but at this point i can usually tell what i'm doing and whats going on, which is pretty good i guess

i've been having fun making some of the site’s graphics myself. the most notable example being the banner. not much to say about it, though. it does its job well, so im happy with it. additionally, some of the stamps at the bottom of the sidebar were made by me. the Jay Kay stamp, for example, was made with Stamp Studio. there doesn’t seem to be much variation in the flavors of stamps i could find on the repositories i looked at, so i probably will be making more in the future

all in all i'm actually really proud of how this turned out! which feels a little strange for me to say because i don't think i’ve had that reaction after making something in quite a while. there are plenty of things i've drawn or worked on, where i immediately start agonizing over every flaw upon completing them. it’s the primary reason i have such an aversion to sharing the things i make with others, in addition to just being kinda shy. anyway, this is one of the few things i've made in the last few years where i can look at it afterward and feel a genuine sense of pride

so that's what this is, i guess. my first attempt at making a website, and my first post on it! thank you so much for taking the time out of your day to read this, and i hope you’ll continue to check in on me here sometimes ^_^
